The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Disease Prevention and Control (DPC) Branch as an Administrative Assistant working in the Provincial Vaccine Depot in Saint John (Central Serum Depot).

Reporting to the Director of the Disease Prevention and Control Branch, the succesful candidate will be a member of a multidisciplinary team working in a challenging, fast-paced work environment. The Central Serum Depot serves as the Department's main distribution centre for the New Brunswick publicly funded vaccines, it is mandated to order, receive, and distribute all provincially funded vaccines to stakeholders in various locations throughout the province (e.g. public health, physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists). The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to; receiving, storing, distributing, and handling the vaccine supply in accordance with cold chain storage and handling policies; managing inventory and monitoring compliance with provincial policies and standards; ensuring that resources and supplies are adequate and equipment is regularly maintained; preparing correspondence and communicating with various stakeholders; liaising with internal and external agencies related to the purchase of vaccines; assisting with the preparation of annual contracts; and preparing routine and ad-hoc reports.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, supplemented by one (1) year of post-secondary education in a related field and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience. Experience and/or training in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software is essential. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Experience working in a medical or health related setting

Salary: $1,432 to $1,737 bi-weekly
