Position Summary

The Assistant Manager of Resident Services leads the full-cycle rental process including application, assessment/interview, in-take, move-in and move-out by working closely with the resident, the family, home care and other service providers ensuring the residents receive quality services. As of member of the site leadership team, they report to the Site Manager and will be working closely within a team supporting the entire lodge operation. This position will be based out of Dr. Turner Lodge and will also oversee the Residents of the Henry House, Homestead Place & Fort Lions Haven.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and arrange potential resident and family tours, answer inquiries and provide current information on the wait list and process of resident admissions
  • Ensure all residents and families understand the application requirements and sign all appropriate documentation and agreements
  • Manage applications and resident files within the YARDI system, maintain and prioritize the wait list between HHF sites
  • Work with residents, family members, homecare staff, and other health professionals to address concerns and complaints promptly and professionally
  • Maintain ongoing positive relationships with residents and family members, especially when a resident’s status has changed
  • Work with community groups as required to facilitate relationships in support of senior community programs with open houses, educational opportunities
  • Conduct family and resident education seminars and information sessions
  • Respond to all emergency situations as they arise. Provide appropriate follow-up and documentation
  • In cooperation with the with Maintenance department, ensure buildings are well maintained
  • Actively participate in resident meetings, staff meetings, site specific committees, department committees and HHF committees
  • Communicate with staff through use of the communication & chronological recording books, memos, meeting minutes and training
  • Follow on-call schedule and applicable duties as required
  • Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required

Requirements

  • 3 + years of previous experience in resident services or community housing preferred
  • Must possess working knowledge of relevant legislation including, Social Housing Accommodation Regulation, Alberta Housing Act, Supportive Living Accommodation Standards, Public Health and Residential Tenancies Act
  • Post secondary certificate or diploma in related fields such Human Services, CIH Canada or ASCHA Site Manager Certificate through Red Deer College. Combination of relevant training and experience will be given consideration
  • Experience building working relationships with external agencies such as government, local health providers and municipalities is an asset
  • 1-2 years experience working within the YARDI system or other property management software is preferred
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes
  • Strong desire to work with seniors and an understanding of dementia care
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to attend and conduct meetings and presentations
  • Travel to each site is required
  • Overtime may be required
  • Emergency on-call rotation
