Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled, solution-oriented Master Installer to join our team in a hybrid leadership and active installation role. In this position, you will be the bridge between our operations team and the field.
You will manage daily install routing, provide live technical support to our teams in the field, lead lighter daily installation shifts, and directly mentor our apprentice helpers on a weekly rotation. This position is ideal for an experienced stone installer who wants to step into leadership, share their trade knowledge, and streamline daily field operations without stepping away from the craft entirely.
Key Responsibilities
Active Installation & Hands-On Mentorship
- Lead a lighter daily install schedule alongside a rotating team of helpers.
- Train helpers on trade best practices: seam-setting, color-matching adhesives, fragile slab handling, mitered edges, undermount sink installs, and site protection.
- Assess helper progress against a skill matrix to prepare them for promotion to Lead Installers.
Daily Scheduling & Crew Dispatch
- Review incoming projects and assign install teams based on job complexity, distance, access constraints, and crew skill levels.
- Conduct morning dispatch checks to ensure crews have correct paperwork, materials, and tooling before heading to job sites.
Remote Field Support & Problem Solving
- Serve as the primary technical contact for Lead Installers encountering on-site challenges (e.g., out-of-plumb walls, tight clearances, minor site repairs).
- Provide immediate troubleshooting and field-repair guidance to ensure first-time job completion and eliminate unnecessary call-backs.
Quality Assurance & Safety
- Enforce company installation and safety standards across all teams.
- Conduct periodic job site checks and review completed installation photos to maintain high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of hands-on stone installation experience (Quartz, Granite, Marble, Porcelain/Sintered Stone).
- Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of seam setters, color matching, field modifications, and structural support requirements for stone surfaces.
- Leadership: Natural mentor with strong communication skills and a desire to teach and develop junior team members.
- Problem Solving: Ability to stay calm under pressure and walk installers through complex field issues remotely or in person.
- Licensing: Valid G-class driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Physical Ability: Capability to lift and maneuver heavy stone slabs with proper equipment and lifting techniques.
