Local Admissions & Community Engagement Officer
Laureate College
Burlington, ON
Full-Time | On-Site
Salary: $55,000–$68,000 per year, based on experience
About the Role
Laureate College is seeking a proactive, personable, and highly organized Local Admissions & Community Engagement Officer to support the growth of our Junior and Senior School programs.
Reporting to the Director of Admissions and Communications, this position is responsible for the full local family admissions journey — from initial inquiry and school visit through application, offer, registration, payment, and confirmed enrolment.
The successful candidate will also help strengthen Laureate College's presence in Burlington, Oakville, Waterdown, Hamilton, and surrounding communities through local events, outreach, partnerships, and referral networks.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with families, follows up consistently, builds relationships naturally, and takes ownership of results.
Key Responsibilities
Admissions & Family Engagement
- Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from prospective local families.
- Build positive relationships with parents and understand each family's educational needs.
- Proactively follow up with prospective families throughout the admissions process.
- Coordinate school tours, admissions meetings, interviews, assessments, and other admissions activities.
- Guide families through applications and required documentation.
- Coordinate offers, registrations, tuition deposits/payments, and enrolment requirements.
- Maintain communication with accepted families through successful enrolment and school start.
- Ensure that every qualified inquiry and application receives timely and appropriate follow-up.
Local Marketing & Community Events
- Coordinate Open Houses, Information Sessions, school tours, education fairs, and community events.
- Support local outreach and promotional activities under the direction of the Director of Admissions and Communications.
- Follow up with leads generated through events, the school website, social media, advertising, referrals, and other channels.
- Assist with admissions-related communications, presentations, promotional materials, and family-facing content.
- Ensure timely post-event follow-up and track the effectiveness of local recruitment activities.
Community Partnerships & Referral Development
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with local organizations and referral partners.
- Build connections with real estate professionals, relocation services, tutoring and learning centres, feeder schools, sports and arts organizations, community groups, and other family-focused organizations.
- Represent Laureate College professionally at community and partnership activities.
- Maintain regular communication with referral partners and identify opportunities for collaboration.
- Develop new referral channels that can generate prospective families for both Junior and Senior School.
- Track inquiries and enrolments generated through community partnerships.
Admissions Pipeline & Reporting
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date admissions pipeline and prospective-family database.
- Track lead sources, communications, visits, applications, offers, registrations, payments, and confirmed enrolments.
- Maintain the admissions master sheet and ensure enrolment information is accurate and current.
- Monitor outstanding follow-ups and proactively move applications toward completion.
- Track conversion results across different lead sources, events, campaigns, and community partners.
- Provide regular admissions pipeline and activity updates to the Director of Admissions and Communications.
- Coordinate with Finance, school leadership, and administration to ensure a smooth transition from admissions to confirmed student registration.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of admissions experience in a Canadian independent/private school environment preferred.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, particularly with parents and families.
- Strong writing, email communication, and document-preparation skills.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Comfortable managing multiple families, leads, and admissions cases simultaneously.
- Proactive and results-oriented approach to admissions.
- Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn admissions, CRM, and school information systems.
- Open-minded, adaptable, and a fast learner.
- Experience organizing Open Houses, school events, or community outreach is an asset.
- Knowledge of or existing connections within Burlington, Oakville, Waterdown, Hamilton, or surrounding communities is an asset.
- Experience in community partnership development, relationship management, or referral-based business development is an asset.
Who Will Succeed in This Role?
You may be a strong fit if you are someone who:
- Enjoys meeting and communicating with families.
- Takes initiative rather than waiting for prospective families to follow up.
- Is comfortable following a lead from first inquiry all the way to enrolment.
- Can combine warm, professional communication with disciplined follow-up.
- Enjoys getting out into the community and building new relationships.
- Is comfortable developing partnerships and referral opportunities.
- Learns quickly and is comfortable working in a growing and evolving school environment.
- Takes pride in both enrolment results and delivering a positive experience for families.
Compensation
