Great North Airlines is seeking an experienced and respected aviation professional to step into the role of Chief Pilot, a key leadership position within our 705 operation. Job Scope
The Chief Pilot is responsible to the Operations Manager for all regulatory duties including the monitoring of all flight crews to ensure adherence to regulatory policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities
Ensure safety, security, quality and risk management policies and related applications are adequately implemented, monitored and that the airline operates within a safe environment at all times;
- Actively promote safety and quality within the organization and department by encouraging employee participation in SMS and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders;
- Comply with all SMS and safety policies, processes, and standards;
- Develop standard operating procedures and maintain all Flight Operations manuals including the COM, Line Indoctrination, SOP and MEL;
- Monitor MMEL changes for each aircraft type and ensure completion of company MEL amendments within 60 days;
- Action and distribute all accident, incident and other occurrence reports including ASR’s and CAPs;
- Supervise all flight crews for adherence to all regulatory policies, company policies and partake in disciplinary measures;
- Remain informed of any new or amendments to regulations, legislation, manufacturer bulletins etc. and report to 705 Operations Manager and other regulatory post holders and management team;
- Issue directives and notices to flight crews and notify Operations Manager and all other departments as required;
- Develop and/or implement all required approved training programs for flight crews;
- Responsible for the selection, qualification and administration of Approved Check Pilots, Line Check Captains, and Line Training Captains;
- Responsible for determining upgrades/equipment transfers and ensure bi-annual line check scheduling for all pilots;
- Assist Human Resources with the pilot recruitment process which includes the screening, interviewing and/or selection of suitable pilot candidates;
- Monitor and maintain all pilot crew qualification records and ensure that records are distributed to Crew Planning, Scheduling, and Human Resources for processing;
- Monitor all pilot crewing schedules;
- Accountable for financial controls related to pilot performance;
- Determine the operational suitability and requirements of all aerodromes and routes served;
- Responsible for auditing five of each fleet type pilot files, five ride reports, and five pilot training files per month as well as all assigned quality assurance duties;
- Participate on Duty Manager program;
- Maintain currency as airline pilot;
- Any other duties and projects assigned by the Operations Manager.
Job Requirements
- Hold a valid CAT I Medical and ATPL;
- Current Captain on a Company aircraft type;
- High School Diploma though University Degree or Aviation College Diploma strongly preferred;
- A minimum of three years of experience flying aircraft that fall under CARs 705;
- Hold a PPC on at least one CARs 705 type of aircraft operated by Pivot Airlines;
- At least 3 years industry related work experience;
- 1 year supervisory and/or management experience;
- Aviation audit training an asset;
- Knowledge of aviation security regulations;
- Sound knowledge of MS Office products;
- Self-starter with demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, problem solving, and negotiating skills;
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills;
- High degree of diplomacy and discretion when dealing with sensitive security, public relations, and government relations issues;
- Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and prioritize multiple projects;
- Thrives in a fast-moving environment, with a high tolerance for change;
- Motivated and enthusiastic team player who can work in an autonomous and/or team setting;
- Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: $150,000.00-$200,000.00 per year
