Job Summary:

Reporting to the Program Leader, Patient & Family Support Services (PFSS), the Coordinator is responsible for the planning, co-ordination, implementation and evaluation of the services and activities of the Patient and Family Resource Centre. The Coordinator will ensure appropriate information, support and resources are offered through the Resource Centre to meet the needs of patients and families served by CancerCare Manitoba. Services will offer information and support across the continuum of cancer care (diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and end of life). The Coordinator supervises and supports volunteers to assist with the delivery of services. Communication and collaboration with other departments, cancer information programs and resource centres is important to ensure the development and maintenance of up to date information and resources.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Baccalaureate in Health or a related discipline with experience in oncology (an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered)
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience and knowledge related to adult education and teaching
  • One year of experience in program planning, coordination, and evaluation
  • Experience with training and supervision of staff or volunteers
  • Strong interpersonal and written skills
  • Ability to work as a team member as well as independently
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Must possess a license in the appropriate provincial licensing body
  • Satisfactory employment record
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in a Health Discipline
  • Demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to speak French

Asset:

  • Experience in information and resource management and tracking systems
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations
  • Experience with patient education in a health care setting
