A well-established, family-owned diversified holding company, located in Collingwood Ontario, is seeking an accomplished Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide executive leadership across a broad portfolio of operating businesses and real estate assets.
Reporting directly to ownership, the COO will be responsible for the overall operational and financial performance of the organization, with oversight spanning hotels, restaurants, convenience retail, fuel operations, commercial and residential real estate, sales and leasing, and accounting.
This is a key executive leadership position requiring an experienced operator with the ability to lead across multiple business sectors, develop strong management teams, drive financial performance, and translate ownership’s strategic objectives into effective execution.
Executive Mandate
The Chief Operating Officer will provide leadership and oversight across the organization, with responsibility for:
· Overall operational performance of the company’s hotels, restaurants, convenience stores, gas stations and real estate assets.
· Leadership and accountability of senior and operational management teams.
· Development and implementation of operational strategies, policies, controls and performance standards.
· Revenue growth, profitability, cost control and operational efficiency across all business divisions.
· Oversight of the company’s commercial and residential real estate portfolio.
· Leadership of leasing activities, lease negotiations, renewals and tenant relationships.
· Participation in real estate acquisitions, dispositions, development and strategic asset decisions.
· Oversight of the accounting department and the organization’s financial reporting processes.
· Preparation of budgets, forecasts, financial statements, cash flow and operating results.
· Establishment and monitoring of key performance indicators across the organization.
· Identification and execution of opportunities to improve business performance and create long-term value.
· Collaboration with ownership on strategic planning, capital allocation and future growth opportunities.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a proven senior executive with a strong foundation in hospitality and extensive experience managing complex, multi-location operations.
Candidates should possess:
· A minimum of 10 years of progressive senior-level experience within the hospitality industry.
· Demonstrated success leading multi-location or diversified business operations.
· Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets, forecasts, operating results and financial performance.
· Experience leading and developing senior managers and multidisciplinary teams.
· A strong understanding of operational controls, profitability, cost management and performance measurement.
· Excellent business judgment, leadership, communication and negotiation skills.
· The ability to operate strategically while remaining sufficiently hands-on to understand and address operational challenges.
· Experience in commercial real estate, leasing, property management, acquisitions or dispositions is a significant asset.
· A university degree in business, finance, accounting, hospitality management or a related discipline is preferred.
· Preference will be given to candidates holding a CPA designation.
