What you will do
- Provide a secure presence to offer support and safe assistance to those in need
- Establish a strong security presence to deter unlawful activities and protect center visitors and staff
- Provide assistance and screening to all site visitors and staff
- Ensure accurate visitor and staff log reports, including sign in/out monitoring
- Receive and direct parcels/deliveries within the facility
- Receive and direct phone calls accordingly
- Identify, monitor and approach individuals who may need assistance
- Document unlawful activity and other security violations
- Patrol the premises, provide access control and respond to emergency situations in an appropriate and timely manner, and arm/disarm building alarms at start/end of day
- Perform safety and security checks and duties with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity
- Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents
- Identify potential security risks and respond accordingly
- Provide excellent customer service to our clients, customers and visitors
- Respond to media enquiries in a professional way, with instruction
- Respond to emergencies and escalate to law enforcement or medical agencies as required; act as Fire Marshall during Fire Alarms as needed
The Ideal Candidate
- A Valid Security License
- A keen interest in public safety, and community protection
- Capable of sitting/standing throughout the duration of the shift
- Previous security experience in a Hospital/Mental Health Clinic/Respite Shelter environment is an asset
- Strong communication skills, both written and spoken English.
- Willingness to attend meetings and improve skills’
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Must be willing and comfortable to intervene for public and personal safety
- Experience with at-risk groups and challenging environments
- Mental Health First Aid, Trauma Informed Practice, Indigenous Awareness, CPI training are all assets

Pay: $18.50-$19.50 per hour
