The Data, Insights & Analytics team at Loblaw is hiring a Senior Data Scientist. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Data, Insights & Analytics, the incumbent will use advanced techniques in obtaining and analyzing data to drive actionable insights and develop analytic capabilities to support the Asset Protection stream.

A successful candidate will have hands-on experience working with Big Data tools and environments, with a deep understanding of data mining and analytical techniques, getting insights from data and presenting to senior management. Experience building strong working relationships.

What You'll Do:
Deliver practical analytic solutions taking into consideration technology and business constraints with a high degree of autonomy

Work collaboratively with a team of Data scientists and Business Experts
Develop powerful business insights from data using a range of analytical techniques
Build predictive models that learn from and scale to large data sets
Work with un-label data to detect outliers
Work in a highly interactive, fast paced, team-oriented environment
Job Requirements

Advanced degree in Statistics, Math, Operations Research, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Econometrics or other related quantitative discipline, including experience with machine learning through education or practice, preferably in retail.
Experience in Asset Protection or Loss Prevention is an asset.
Experienced with un-supervised and/or semi-supervised techniques is an asset.
Demonstrated experience in delivering high quality, high impact analytical solutions to business problems
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in team settings
Proficiency in SQL and at least one of the following languages: Python, R
Demonstrated track record of manipulation of large volume, high frequency data for analytical purposes using Python/R
Experience working in Azure cloud is an asset
Demonstrated experience of developing and implementing statistical models (predictive & descriptive)
Passion to learn new tools and technology
