Job Summary
Nature Wanderers Childcare is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and reliable certified Level 2 or Level 3 Early Childhood Educator to join our new Out of School Care program located inside Ardrossan Junior Senior High School.
We are looking for an educator who genuinely enjoys working with children, takes initiative, builds strong relationships and believes children learn through play, exploration, meaningful experiences and connection with their community and natural environment.
In this vital role, you will create a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment for young children, supporting their developmental milestones and fostering a love of learning.
Duties
- Build warm, respectful and responsive relationships with school-age children.
- Plan engaging experiences based on children's interests, abilities and emerging ideas.
- Support outdoor and nature-based learning opportunities.
- Actively participate in children's play as a co-learner and co-explorer.
- Maintain active supervision and ensure children's health, safety and well-being.
- Support children's social-emotional development, independence, problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Help establish inviting indoor and outdoor learning environments.
- Complete observations, documentation and program planning.
- Maintain accurate attendance and follow licensing, safety and program procedures.
- Communicate professionally with families, colleagues and school staff
- Contribute positively to the opening and ongoing development of our new Ardrossan program.
Qualifications
- Current Alberta Level 2 or Level 3 Early Childhood Educator certification
- Current Standard First Aid, or ability to obtain before employment
- Current Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check
Assets
- Experience working in licensed Out of School Care
- Experience with school-age children
- Knowledge of Alberta's FLIGHT Early Learning and Care Framework
- Experience with child-led, emergent or play-based programming
- Interest in outdoor and nature-based education
- Strong program planning and documentation skills
- Leadership qualities that foster teamwork and positive classroom management
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple responsibilities
Pay: $20.00-$26.62 per hour
