Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks and heavy equipment to transport freight between facilities, distribution centers, and customer locations
- Assist with loading and unloading freight using forklifts and other heavy equipment, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety standards are met
- Maintain accurate documentation for all shipments, including delivery logs, inspection reports, and freight manifests
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve logistical issues promptly
- Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during transportation activities
- Perform routine maintenance checks on vehicles and report any mechanical issues or repairs needed
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid driver’s license suitable for operating heavy trucks
- Demonstrated ability to operate forklifts and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and shipping regulations
- Basic automotive repair skills are a plus for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues on the road
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced logistics or transportation environment is preferred
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and dispatchers
