Mobile Veterinary Assistant
Okotoks, Alberta
Veterinary medicine... with a road trip.
At Vet Direct, we believe veterinary care should meet pets where they are most comfortable. Our fully equipped 26-foot mobile veterinary clinic allows us to provide such service with compassionate, high-quality care throughout our community while also operating a modern in-clinic practice in Okotoks.
We're looking for an energetic, compassionate, and reliable Mobile Veterinary Assistant who enjoys variety, loves working with animals, and is a confident driver.
If you like the idea of helping pets, supporting veterinarians, and spending part of your day on the road instead of behind the same four walls every day, this could be the perfect opportunity.
What You'll Do
As a Mobile Veterinary Assistant, you'll be an essential member of our veterinary team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Safely operating our 26-foot mobile veterinary clinic to client appointments.
- Assisting veterinarians during mobile consultations, examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Preparing and stocking the mobile clinic to ensure it is fully equipped and ready for each day's schedule.
- Helping maintain a clean, organized, and professional mobile workspace.
- Working in our Okotoks clinic when not assigned to mobile appointments.
- Assisting our Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) with patient care, animal restraint, treatment preparation, and patient monitoring.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming hospital environment.
- Supporting the entire veterinary team with daily operations and other duties as required.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who is:
- Passionate about animal health and client care.
- Friendly, professional, and confident when interacting with clients.
- Organized, dependable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working independently while on the road and collaboratively within a team.
- Adaptable and eager to learn new skills.
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- ✔ A valid Class 5 driver's licence in good standing.
- ✔ The ability to safely drive or learn to drive a 26-foot mobile veterinary clinic.
- ✔ The ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- ✔ Strong organizational and communication skills.
- ✔ A good understanding of computers and technology.
- ✔ Experience in the veterinary industry.
Assets (but not required)
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting.
- Experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician Assistant.
- Familiarity with veterinary practice management software.
- Customer service experience.
