Overview
Ridge Lowbed Service is looking for an experienced flat deck driver with proven over dimensional load experience. This position involves hauling heavy/oversize loads to various job sites with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and professionalism.The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial driving regulations, heavy equipment operation, and vehicle maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate flatbed trucks to transport transport oversize and heavy loads safely
- Secure loads properly using appropriate straps and tie-downs to ensure safe transportation of freight
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and load security
- Communicate with dispatch and site personnel
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and communicate effectively with dispatch regarding delivery status
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance and minor repairs; report any mechanical issues promptly
- Follow all safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and freight handling
- Assist with loading and unloading freight when necessary
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience operating flat deck / lowbed
- Proven experience with over dimensional loads
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s License
- Physical ability and knowledge to perform load securement using proper tie-down techniques
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to commercial driving and heavy equipment operation
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights when required
- Reliable and professional work ethic
- Excellent communication skills and ability to follow directions accurately
- Experience with forklift, heavy equipment operation, or automotive repair is a plus
