To support our recent and ongoing growth, JLR’s Sudbury office is looking to add an Architectural Technologist to augment and round out our team. We’re looking for talented and creative people to support delivery activities.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Work directly with architects, engineers, and technologists as part of an integrated multidisciplinary project team at all stages, from concept design to completion;
Prepare bids and construction drawings and documents for industrial and commercial projects;
Discuss, develop, and communicate ideas with verbal and graphic clarity utilizing a design process and collaboration model that includes a wide range of tools, such as drawing/sketching, modelling, diagramming, and 3-D work;
Assist architects, engineers and technologists with project execution during all project phases;
Coordinate with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects;
Manage and coordinate under construction projects, including contract administrative duties and site visits;
Leadership role in the architectural technologist group and mentorship of junior staff; and
Travel between JLR offices, as required, to meet the needs of various projects.
Skills and Qualifications:
Graduate of an Architectural Technology program at a recognized Ontario post-secondary school;
OAAAS designation or eligibility for designation;
3 – 7 years of experience working within an architect’s office;
Proficiency in latest version of AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory;
Sketchup experience would be considered an asset;
Strong conceptual design skills in exploring innovative approaches;
Ability to discuss, develop and communicate ideas with verbal and graphic clarity;
Sound understanding of drawing principles and standards;
Working knowledge of local building codes, standards, and building structures;
Possess a full understanding of building science, construction materials, construction methods, and architectural detailing;
Organized with the ability to manage time, deliverables, budgets, and personnel;
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
Ability to work within a team environment and work within a project team made up of architects, engineers, and planners; and
Valid Class driver’s license.
