Position: Heavy Haul / Class 1 Truck Driver
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Heavy Haul Truck Driver to join our transportation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting heavy and oversized freight from Edmonton, Alberta to various locations throughout British Columbia.
This position requires strong driving skills, knowledge of heavy-haul operations, excellent safety awareness, and the ability to properly secure and transport loads in accordance with Canadian transportation regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-haul tractor-trailer combinations safely between Edmonton and BC.
- Transport heavy, oversized, and specialized freight to designated locations.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Properly load, secure, and inspect freight before and during transportation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Alberta and BC transportation regulations.
- Maintain accurate trip, mileage, inspection, and delivery records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding routes, schedules, delays, and road conditions.
- Follow all applicable Hours of Service (HOS) requirements.
- Monitor weather, road, and traffic conditions and adjust driving accordingly.
- Assist with loading, unloading, tarping, chaining, and securing freight when required.
- Perform basic vehicle and trailer checks and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe truck and trailer.
- Ensure all required permits and documentation are properly maintained for heavy/oversized loads.
- Represent the company professionally when dealing with customers, shippers, receivers, and other road users.
Requirements
- Valid Alberta Class 1 Driver's Licence.
- Proven experience operating commercial trucks and trailers.
- Heavy haul or specialized freight experience preferred.
- Clean or acceptable driving record.
- Knowledge of load securement procedures.
- Knowledge of Canadian Hours of Service regulations.
- Ability to safely operate and inspect heavy trucks and trailers.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with dispatch.
- Willingness to travel between Alberta and British Columbia.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and evenings when required.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and background check, where applicable.

- Paid mileage based on company-approved miles.
