Function/ Purpose

The Operator, Frac Sand Loadout performs a variety of duties associated with the operation and maintenance of the Opal Facility. This position performs a variety of operational duties associated with receiving/loading sand, as well as the general maintenance of the facility. The primary focus of this role is on moving sand out safely and efficiently. The Operator, Frac Sand Loadout will receive daily direction from the Supervisor, Loadout/Dispatch.

Employment Type: Full Time, year round work

Shift: 4/4 (4 days on & 4 days off)

Hours: 5:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. (day shift) & 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 a.m. (night shift)

Wage: $22.00 - $23.00/hour (depending on experience)

Night Shift Premium: $2.00/hour

Overtime: After 8 hours of work

Benefits: After 3 months of employment

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keep immediate supervisor fully informed of all issues or matters requiring his/her attention
  • Operates computer control system to load sand into outgoing trucks
  • Document material leaving the facility using the truck scale and computer system
  • Provides snow/sand removal of truck scale and outside areas
  • Completes regular routine facility checks
  • Maintains conveyors, and elevators in accordance with preventative maintenance practices, Occupational Health and Safety regulations and Peaskie Minerals Inc. safety practices
  • Work all assigned shifts from scheduled start time to scheduled end time
  • Participate in all required Company meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED, however not mandatory
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers’ License


  • Minimum 2 years of experience in basic trade skills related to construction and/or building maintenance
  • A background in facility preventative maintenance would be considered an asset


  • Aptitude for numbers and sharp attention to detail
  • A strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting abilities
  • A good knowledge of computers and the ability to pick up computer software quickly
  • High degree of personal initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities as necessary
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • The ability to communicate well with supervisors and other staff, and to foster positive work relationships
  • The ability to operate a leaf blower, hand tools, and other maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work overtime and varying shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions

Physical requirements

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. of repeatedly and performing physically demanding work
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
