POSITION OVERVIEW
The Community Engagement Worker (CEW) provides support to individuals with disabilities through member-directed services. This role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized, group, and virtual programming based on service contracts.
Services are designed to promote independence, personal development, community participation, recreation, and social engagement.
This position follows all VITA Policies and Procedures and complies with applicable health, safety, and community care standards. Staff are expected to promote a safe, respectful, and person-centred environment at all times.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT – MALE SUPPORT STAFF
Due to the specific support needs and established care plans of the individuals receiving services in this program, this position requires a male caregiver.
The individuals supported in this residence are male and require assistance with personal care, daily living activities, and community participation in a manner that prioritizes privacy, dignity, comfort, and trust within the support relationship.
This requirement is based on the nature of the care environment and the needs of the individuals served and is considered a bona fide occupational requirement under applicable human rights legislation.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- D.S.W, SSW, CYW, or related post-secondary education (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or dual diagnoses.
- Experience in activity planning, group facilitation, and community-based programming.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and virtual platforms (Teams/Zoom) - Valid driver’s license required
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct support to individuals with daily living, personal care, and community activities.
- Develop and deliver engaging individual and group-based programming .
- Support member goals through person-centred planning and documentation.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and service documentation.
- Promote health, safety, dignity, and independence in all aspects of care - Collaborate with team members, families, and community partners
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
