Job description:
We are a Salvadoran and Latin American restaurant and store looking to hire a bilingual (spanish/english) kitchen helper. The daily responsibilities include washing, cleaning, and food preparation duties in a kitchen from prep to food packing and plating.
Below are the functions this position will perform on a regular basis, along with how the job functions within the organisation. This position reports directly to the Kitchen Lead. This role operates primarily in Spanish.
- Keep the dining room and store clean in accordance with the company’s opening and closing guidelines as well as the requirements of the local health and safety department.
- Clean and sanitise tables, chairs and other dining area surfaces
- Ensure food service and quality control.
- Ensure hygiene and sanitation practices conform to policies and regulations.
- Set up tables with utensils, napkins and condiments in serving areas
- Clear tables of used dishes and reset for new customers
- Bus tables by clearing used dishes and utensils,
- Provide excellent customer service, greet customers, take customers' orders and answer customers’ questions when required.
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards
- Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner and meets food safety guidelines
- Assist with meal preparation and plating
- Responsible for daily completion of prep requirements
- Required to maintain inventory of food stocks and relay information to Kitchen Lead
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operation of the line
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
- Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures
- Ensure completion of daily opening and closing cleaning procedures
- Adhere to all safety and health regulations
- Due to the nature of this restaurant and current staff Spanish fluency is strongly required
