As the Engineering Manager, you will be highly skilled at leading a team of Engineers to provide engineering technical support directly to operations. You will possess broad and deep experience in engineering manufacturing processes for products; lead the implementation of manufacturing equipment as well as improving existing processes; develop and maintain manufacturing and quality documents; focus on and utilize Lean and continuous improvement methods, tools and techniques.
Provides leadership, coaching and mentorship to support the development of manufacturing engineers.
Promote a continuous improvement culture within the organization
Lead the team to improve plant performance, improve safety, achieve better quality, lower costs and reduce or eliminate waste
Lead the team in analysis of labour utilization, line layout (flow) and operational data such as material and product cost to determine efficient utilization of all assets
Work with partners to specify, source, purchase, plan and implement new capital equipment
Work with partners to source, purchase, plan and launch product
Ensure the internal high quality product standards are met for products being produced
Develop departmental strategic plans and support key corporate strategic plan initiatives
Develop budgets and ensure adherence
Participate in the training and development for other departments within the organization
Other projects and initiatives as required.
Skills and Knowledge:
Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering; or Diploma in Engineering Technology and/or a minimum of 10 years of related experience
P.E.N.G or C.E.T designation is required
Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability in successfully leading a team
A sharp business sense and the ability to identify business opportunities
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to multi-task with a “get it done” attitude is essential
Proven drive and initiative to identify problems and collaboratively determine cost effective solutions to support business needs
An ‘outside of the box’ thinker who embraces change and has the flexibility to take on varied challenges
Excellent customer service orientation, with strengths in building effective relationships
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with peers in a fast-paced and results-driven team environment
Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) within a diverse group of team members
Formal lean training, six-sigma, lean green or black belt is an asset
