This role is being created as part of a planned leadership transition. Position Summary
MedXL, a member of the Amsino Medical Group family, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead and support all human resources functions for our Montreal-based manufacturing, distribution, and operations facilities.
This role is designed for a seasoned HR professional who enjoys being hands-on while also serving as a strategic business partner to site leadership. The successful candidate will work closely with the current HR Director during a structured transition period and will gradually assume responsibility for the full HR function. This position offers a clear career path toward future advancement into an HR Director role.
The HR Manager will oversee employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, compliance, organizational development, health and safety at work and HR programs supporting approximately 150 employees across manufacturing, warehouse, office, and operational functions.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Leadership
Serve as the primary HR business partner to site leadership and department managers.
Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and organizational development.
Support business growth initiatives and organizational changes through effective HR programs and practices.
Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with MedXL and Amsino values.
Employee Relations & Labor Compliance
Advise managers on employee performance, coaching, disciplinary actions, investigations, and conflict resolution.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal and provincial employment laws and regulations.
Maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Lead recruitment efforts for salaried and hourly positions.
Partner with hiring managers to identify talent needs and develop hiring strategies.
Oversee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a positive employee experience.
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll
Partner with Dayforce and internal payroll resources to support payroll processing and administration.
Administer employee benefit programs and respond to employee inquiries.
Participate in compensation reviews, salary benchmarking, and annual planning activities.
Ensure accuracy and compliance of HR records and employee data.
Performance Management and Employee Development
- Support performance review processes and employee development initiatives.
- Coordinate training and professional development programs.
- Ensure proper training for employees to perform their duties in compliance with Compliance Wire.
- Assist managers with succession planning and talent development efforts.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Maintain HR metrics, reports, and workforce analytics.
- Support audits and compliance requirements related to employment practices.
- Manage HR documentation and personnel records.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and workplace regulations
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field.
Experience
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Strong knowledge of Quebec and Canadian employment laws and HR practices.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, or operational environments.
- Experience handling employee relations, investigations, performance management, and recruitment.
- Experience in Health, safety and workplace regulations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems.
Skills/Qualifications
- CHRP, CRHA, CHRL, or equivalent HR certification.
- Experience with Dayforce software or similar HR/payroll platforms.
- Experience supporting manufacturing production in pharmaceutical, medical device or food field.
- French and English written and spoken are mandatory.
- A hands-on HR leader who is comfortable operating both strategically and tactically.
- A trusted advisor capable of building strong relationships with employees and managers at all levels.
- Experienced in supporting manufacturing and operations environments.
