Your Opportunity:
Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, the RN facilitates and leads collaborative patient care to meet the diverse needs of the Adult Home Nutrition Support Program (HNSP) patients. Provides education, support and follow up for patients and their families. The RN functions as a consultant to nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals internally to AHS and externally to patient supports. The RN is autonomous in decision making regarding patient/caregiver assessments, development of specific enteral and parenteral programs, selection of equipment and supplies, discharge planning and short/long term monitoring.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:
Five (5) years of current medical/surgical experience in an inpatient setting, or experience in another hospital based Home Enteral Nutrition Program or similar. Must demonstrate excellent assessment, organization and patient care skills when interacting with patient/families and members of the health care team. Must be self-motivated and be able to work both independently as well as within a team. Must be flexible, able to prioritize and organize workload and adjust to rapidly changing needs of the department. Must have the ability to work in a fast paced, stressful environment. Must be able to deal effectively with conflict and complex, sensitive patient and family situations. Experience in the following computer related programs is required: Connect Care, Alberta Netcare, Outlook, Microsoft Office. May be required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. It is required that applicants be able to push/pull/transfer and assist patients in a wheelchair with weights in excess of 350 pounds (150 kg).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Home Care experience. Case Management experience. Complex wound care experience. Familiarity with community supports/resources. Knowledge of enteral feeding tubes and enteral feeding supplies.
