Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) is an acute care hospital located in Cornwall, Ontario along the scenic St. Lawrence River. CCH provides a full range of acute inpatient, outpatient and community mental health services to a catchment area of 100,000 people from the communities of Cornwall, the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and to the Mohawk community of Akwesasne.

The Charge Nurse models professionalism and is responsible for the daily operations of the Acute Medicine Unit (JMP 1), as well as providing support to the medicine leadership team in ensuring high quality of care for Medicine patients. Key responsibilities include having knowledge of the patient acuity and needs to support staff assignment using the 3 Factor Framework and novice to expert skills mix. Continual communication with the staff will be essential to reassigning staff and providing elbow-support and knowledge transfer as required for acuity. Leading interprofessional rounds, the team leader will also action necessary follow-up with members of the health care team to support the patient’s journey.
