At Sustainable Projects Group we focus on clean energy technology deployment in the built environment and have highly engaged and experienced staff to deliver projects to our clients that make a meaningful impact in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, lowering utility costs, and improving the functionality of all facility types. We work with our clientele to help identify clean energy & energy conservation opportunities within their facilities and work closely with them to bring these projects to life through consulting, engineering, and construction. We are a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, technologists, tradespeople, software developers, and construction managers.
This role is suited for an individual who is passionate about sustainability and has an entrepreneurial mindset. This role will provide a highly skilled individual with the opportunity to be part of energy conservation, and sustainability projects throughout Canada. As a leader in electrical engineering, you will have the opportunity in this role to apply your experience of sound engineering principles, to a variety of sustainability projects. Projects can range from mechanical system upgrades, building automation systems, electrical installations, lighting installations, electrical vehicle charger installations, energy audits, building condition assessments and many others. This individual will be excited to learn new scopes of work while contributing their industry experience.
As a result, orientated and customer focused individual, you will report directly to the Operations Manager who is responsible for the execution of Sustainable Projects Group ongoing backlog of projects.
Title: Electrical Engineer - Sustainable Technologies for Multi-Unit Residential Buildings
Job Summary:
Our company is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and optimizing sustainable electrical systems for multi-unit residential buildings. The engineer will work with our team of architects, designers, and project managers to ensure that our projects are completed on time, on budget and exceed client expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and optimize sustainable electrical systems and equipment for multi-unit residential buildings, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.
- Conduct feasibility studies and provide recommendations for optimal equipment selection and integration with other building systems.
- Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Ensure designs meet all relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
- Collaborate with architects, designers, project managers and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
- Oversee construction activities, perform site inspections, and provide technical guidance to construction teams.
- Perform simulations, analyses, and calculations to evaluate system performance and energy savings potential.
- Evaluate and integrate renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal energy into building systems.
- Develop innovative solutions for energy efficiency and sustainability in electrical systems.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and other project-related documents.
- Keep up to date with the latest advancements in electrical engineering, energy efficiency and sustainability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, developing, and optimizing sustainable electrical systems for multi-unit residential buildings.
- Experience with sustainable electrical systems, renewable energy systems, and smart building technologies.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design software.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta.
- Additional Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Saskatchewan and British Columbia will be a strong advantage.
