Business Development & HR Consultant – Outplacement Services
About Avenir Outplacement Counselling
Avenir Outplacement Counselling, formerly Equity Outplacement Services, provides cost-effective, results-focused outplacement and career transition services to organizations, as well as litigation support for employment lawyers.
We help organizations navigate workforce transitions with professionalism and empathy while supporting affected employees through personalized career coaching, job-search strategy, group workshops, and blended programs.
We also provide Litigation-Ready Job Assessments for employment lawyers — impartial, third-party assessments that can be used in reasonable notice and mitigation disputes.
We are looking for a Business Development & HR Consultant who combines hands-on experience in HR/recruiting with strong B2B sales and business development skills.
This is a hybrid role: you will use your HR/recruiting knowledge to understand client needs while actively developing new business relationships with HR leaders, executives, business owners, and employment lawyers.
About the Role
The ideal candidate understands both sides of the equation:
- HR/Recruiting: You understand hiring, workforce transitions, employee relations, layoffs, terminations, talent markets, and the challenges HR teams face.
- Business Development: You know how to identify prospects, conduct outreach, build relationships, present solutions, manage a sales pipeline, and convert opportunities into clients.
- You will be responsible for growing Avenir's corporate and legal client base while becoming a trusted advisor to organizations navigating employee transitions.
- Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
- Identify and prospect potential corporate and legal clients through outbound outreach, networking, referrals, LinkedIn, and other channels.
- Build relationships with HR Managers, HR Directors, CHROs, CEOs, COOs, business owners, and employment lawyers.
- Develop and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective clients.
- Conduct discovery calls and meetings to understand organizational needs.
- Deliver compelling presentations on Avenir's outplacement, career transition, and litigation-support services.
- Tailor presentations and sales conversations to different audiences, including HR leaders, executives, and legal professionals.
- Manage prospects through the complete sales cycle, from initial outreach through close.
- Develop referral relationships with HR professionals, recruitment firms, employment lawyers, and other relevant partners.
- Track prospect activity, opportunities, follow-ups, and pipeline progression in the CRM.
- Meet agreed-upon business development and revenue targets.
HR & Recruiting Expertise
- Use your HR/recruiting experience to understand workforce restructuring, layoffs, terminations, employee transitions, and talent-market challenges.
- Speak confidently with HR leaders and executives about recruitment, talent acquisition, workforce planning, and employee transitions.
- Understand the challenges organizations face when supporting employees through layoffs and career transitions.
- Use your knowledge of recruiting and the labour market to explain the value of outplacement and career coaching services.
- Understand employment-related challenges sufficiently to identify when organizations or employment lawyers may benefit from Avenir's services.
- Act as a knowledgeable and consultative resource rather than using a transactional sales approach.
Client & Relationship Management
- Build long-term relationships with corporate and legal clients.
- Represent Avenir professionally in meetings, networking events, webinars, and industry events.
- Maintain consistent communication and follow-up with prospects and clients.
- Collaborate with the Avenir team to ensure a smooth transition from business development to service delivery.
- Gather market feedback and identify new opportunities for service development.
