About the Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Leadership Team, you will be responsible for leading the organization's accounting functions while overseeing key human resources and people operations initiatives.
This position combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You'll manage the day-to-day financial operations while developing scalable systems that support a growing business and exceptional employee experience.

What You'll Be Responsible ForAccounting & Financial Operations
- Full-cycle accounting for multiple operating companies
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Collections and customer account management
- Payroll administration
- Job costing and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting
- Monthly financial reporting and analysis
- Month-end and year-end close processes
- Preparation of financial statements
- Annual budgeting and forecasting
- Cash flow management and reporting
- Bank and account reconciliations
- Corporate credit card administration and reconciliation
- Fixed asset management
- Inventory reconciliation and reporting
- HST preparation and remittances
- WSIB reporting and administration
- Insurance administration
- CRA correspondence and government reporting
- Development and maintenance of strong internal financial controls
- Coordination with external accountants during year-end
Human Resources & People Operations
- Recruitment planning and workforce support
- Writing and posting job advertisements
- Resume screening and interview coordination
- Participation in the hiring process
- Preparation of employment offers
- Employee onboarding and orientation
- Benefits administration
- Vacation and leave tracking
- Employee file management
- Performance review coordination
- Training and certification records
- HR policy administration
- Health & Safety administration
- WSIB claims management
- Return-to-work coordination
- Employee offboarding
- Maintaining compliance with employment legislation and HR best practices
Process Improvement & Business Support

- Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Build scalable accounting and HR systems
- Digitize employee and financial records
- Develop weekly KPI dashboards for leadership
- Improve financial visibility through meaningful reporting
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements
- Support leadership with strategic planning and business analysis
- Help build systems that support long-term organizational growth

QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience managing accounting for multiple operating companies
- College Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks
- Experience processing payroll
- Excellent understanding of Canadian accounting principles
- Experience with HST, WSIB, CRA reporting, and government remittances
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 skills
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
Preferred
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
- Experience supporting Human Resources functions
- Experience improving business systems and operational processes
What Success Looks Like
During your first year, you will:
- Deliver accurate monthly financial reporting within 10 business days
- Coordinate a clean and efficient year-end process
- Build organized HR systems and documentation
- Establish an effective recruiting and onboarding process
- Digitize employee and accounting records
- Maintain accurate, error-free payroll
- Improve cash flow reporting and forecasting
- Develop meaningful departmental KPI dashboards
- Document key accounting and HR SOPs
- Provide leadership with timely weekly financial and operational reporting
- Become a trusted advisor to the leadership team
