Operations Manager – Midtown Golf
Location: Oakville, Ontario
Position: Full-Time
About Midtown Golf
Midtown Golf is a premium indoor golf facility in Oakville built around providing an exceptional golf and hospitality experience. From simulator bookings and leagues to lessons, events, memberships and corporate functions, our goal is to provide a first-class experience every time someone walks through our doors.
We are looking for an Operations Manager to take a leadership role in the day-to-day operation of Midtown Golf.
This is not simply a shift manager position. We are looking for someone who can become a trusted second-in-command - someone who takes ownership, leads the team, solves problems before they become problems, and helps ensure Midtown operates at a high level every day.
The right person will be organized, accountable, proactive and comfortable making decisions independently.
Key Responsibilities
As Operations Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of Midtown Golf, including:
- Creating and managing weekly staff schedules
- Reviewing employee hours and submitting payroll hours accurately and on time
- Managing staff performance, accountability and day-to-day expectations
- Assisting with hiring, onboarding and training new team members
- Ensuring staff consistently provide the level of service expected at Midtown
- Conducting regular inventory checks for beverages, snacks, merchandise, golf supplies and other facility needs
- Placing and coordinating orders with suppliers and vendors
- Monitoring inventory levels, costs and product usage
- Overseeing opening, closing, and daily operational procedures
- Ensuring simulator bays, lounge areas, bars, washrooms and common areas are maintained to a premium standard
- Identifying maintenance issues and coordinating repairs or service when required
- Managing customer concerns and resolving issues professionally
- Overseeing bookings, memberships, leagues, events and other Midtown programs from an operational standpoint
- Helping coordinate corporate events, tournaments, leagues and special events
- Monitoring day-to-day sales and operational performance
- Helping develop and improve systems, procedures and staff processes
- Communicating regularly with ownership regarding staffing, inventory, facility issues and business performance
- Stepping in wherever needed to ensure the business runs smoothly
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who takes ownership.
You should be the type of person who notices when something needs to be done and handles it rather than waiting to be asked.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous management, operations, hospitality, golf, recreation or customer-service leadership experience
- Experience managing and scheduling employees
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Strong attention to detail
- Confidence handling difficult customer or employee situations
- Experience with inventory management and purchasing
- Comfort working with POS, booking, scheduling and other business software
- The ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities at once
- A professional, polished and customer-focused approach
- The ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- A willingness to work some evenings and weekends when required by the business
Golf knowledge is considered a strong asset, but is not required. Understanding hospitality, customer experience and how to operate a premium facility is equally important.
What Success Looks Like
A successful Operations Manager at Midtown is someone ownership can trust to run the business.
Staff know what is expected of them. Schedules and payroll are handled accurately. Inventory is under control. The facility looks exceptional. Customers are taken care of. Problems are solved quickly. Events and leagues run smoothly.
Most importantly, you take pride in Midtown and treat the business as if it were your own.
Why Midtown?
Midtown Golf is continuing to grow, and this position offers an opportunity to become an important part of that growth.
We are looking for someone who wants more than just another management job. We want someone who wants to help build a great business, develop a strong team and play a meaningful role in where Midtown Golf goes next.
If you are organized, proactive, dependable and thrive on taking ownership, we would love to hear from you.
