The mission of the School of Graduate Studies is to promote University-wide excellence in graduate education and research and to ensure consistency and high standards across the divisions. Sharing responsibility for graduate studies with graduate units and divisions, and operating through a system of collegial governance, consultation, and decanal leadership, we define and administer University-wide regulations for graduate education.
The School of Graduate Studies also provides expertise, advice, and information; reviews the design and delivery of programs; develops performance standards; supports diversity, equity, fairness, and ethical conduct in graduate education; organizes services and financial assistance to graduate students; encourages a close and positive relationship between research and graduate instruction; and represents the cause of graduate education at the University of Toronto in the wider academic and general community.

The incumbent acts as the first point of contact for potential graduate applicantsand is responsible and accountable for providing day-to-day customer service to prospective graduate students. This includes, but is not limited to responding to inquires from prospective applicants; triaging issues and referring to the appropriate staff member; responding to all routine-front line inquiries about admissions, the SGS Admission system, recruitment, exchanges; providing administrative support to the efforts of the Recruitment and Admissions Office (RAO). The incumbent assists with the organization of recruitment and admissions events such as fairs, information sessions, Open Houses and workshops and assists with mailings and compiles customer service statistics.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with organizing SGS events (recruitment/conversion events, admissions workshops)
Maintaining electronic and student interactive communication pieces related to recruitment and admissions
Ensuring that websites, databases and chats, among other media, are up-to-date, accessible and information is presented in an attractive and informative way
Advising University staff involved in graduate student recruitment, promoting collaboration between SGS and other offices
Triaging prospect/applicant questions about recruitment, admissions, and exchange opportunities, resolving or referring as appropriate
Attending recruitment fairs, acting as SGS ambassador to promote graduate studies at UofT
Compiling statistics (leads, applications, offers, accepts, enrolments) to assess effectiveness of recruitment activities
Conducting SGS information sessions on admissions requirements and process for prospective students
Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a university setting preferably in graduate recruitment and admissions.
Experience providing detailed information and explanations on policies and procedures preferably within a post secondary institution environment.
Previous experience in event planning, preferably in a University setting.
Experience providing front-lineservice to graduate students.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, both orally and in writing.
Data entry and ROSI experience is an asset.
Experience using content management systems and/or experience in web design is preferred.
Familiarity with the University's policies, structure and systems.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 09 - $58,824 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $75,227. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
