Performance of the general duties of the Shop and Yard:
Reporting to the General Manager
Responsible for general organization of our shop, yard, lunchroom, general maintenance, deliveries to and from various departments, assist walk in customers as needed, recycling and waste removal along with moving and storage of various items as related to the Aggregate Industry
1. Assists all personnel (Shop Mechanics) in locating required parts in a friendly, professional and efficient manner.
2. Periodically assist in moving large equipment around in the yard to make room for more to be dropped off.
3. Will be required to assist as a second hand for assembly of equipment.
4. Maintaining the parts warhouse inventory and shop supplies to support all shop activities.
5. Maintaining tracking sheets of company issued tools to employees
6. Overseeing the organization and efficient use of the yard. This includes skids belting, screens, parts, components, dunnage, equipment attachments.
7. Opening and locking doors to ensure the companies goods are secure.
Parts Pickup & Delivery-
Will be responsible for the operation of the Parts Truck and utility trailers for parts pick-up and delivery. Must respect and obey the laws of the road. All tickets and violations will be the responsibility of the driver.
Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and neat. Ensure all fluids are topped up prior to departure from the shop.
Must have a valid class 5 drivers license. Knowledge of the City of Calgary and surrounding area would be an asset.
Will be responsible for the operation of the skid steer for yard maintenance, clean up and snow removal.
Will be responsible for the operation of the forklifts, loader and skid steer and other material handling devices as required. You will perform daily inspections of this equipment and/or other material handling equipment and complete the maintenance as required to keep it in good operating condition.
Ensure compliance with environmental and occupational safety and health requirements. Maintain adequate security precautions for the facility, fleet, tools and equipment that is under their care.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES.
Must have a valid drivers license and be able to handle a tow behind trailer.
Forklift & Crane certification required.
Experienced with proper rigging and overhead crane use.
Must be proficient in identifying materials by dimensions.
Possesses the ability to operate hand tools and power tools
WHMIS certified.

Works well under pressure, as the Yard Manager will be required to respond to the needs of more than one supervisor. Multi-tasking will be normal course in a days work.

Qualifications
- Experience in heavy lifting and order picking
- Proficiency in warehouse distribution and mechanical knowledge
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and clamp trucks
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems
- Background in construction and loading/unloading tasks
- Valid WHMIS Certification and Class 5 Licence
