Located in the Sherwood Park office, the Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) role will report to the Operations Manager, either directly or through the line supervisor. The OMC role will assist the operations and maintenance teams, during pre-operational phase to prepare the facility for operations. This will include tasks such as development of DCS interface, and review and approval of operational procedures, development of training materials and participation in commissioning and start-up of the HPC facility. This role will also interface closely with the maintenance department to support efficient set-up of the maintenance work process and clarity of the operations and maintenance interface. During operational phase, the OMC is a core member of the maintenance planning and scheduling team. They will utilize operational knowledge, expertise and skills to ensure the right work is being done on the right equipment. They also will work closely with the Shift Team, Process Specialist, Process Engineer, and Maintenance Planners to ensure efficient operation of the facility. This position provides leadership to Shift Operators in the execution of operational targets, goals and plans and a direct Operations interface to Maintenance and Engineering in the prioritizing, planning and execution of work from an Operations perspective. This role will relocate to the HPC site located in Strathcona County in 2020.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:
Provide input & support to project(s) to ensure the safe, compliant and reliable design of project assets allowing for smooth transition and hand-off to from project to operations and maintenance
Assist in the development of operating procedures and related training packages for operational systems
Responsible for approval/coding of new work orders and prioritization of same
Communication link between Operations and Maintenance on permitting and scheduling issues
Assists Maintenance Planners in the scheduling of daily and long-term maintenance work packages (on-line inspections, equipment outages, project work), the OMC validates or creates new documentation if needed
Prepare documents outlining work scope, maintenance work steps, Blind Lists, Lock & tags & Operations guidelines for Operators to follow when preparing equipment for Maintenance.
Provide input to the pre-job hazard analysis (JHA) and safety plans to Maintenance Planners.
Develops or updates confined space documents, facilitates the CSE review meeting for signing documents.
Represent Operations on the SSOP team
Maintain communication with Rescue Leader prior to CSE work to ensure personnel and resources are prepared and available, daily CSE coverage is being met
Provide feedback to Operations & Maintenance in Permit issuance and ensure equipment is ready for Maintenance work on time
Acts as the key communications link between shift operations, maintenance, projects etc. Attends all work planning and scheduling meetings including daily operations shift meetings, daily maintenance work review meeting, weekly scheduling meeting and monthly backlog review meetings
Provides key input to Major Maintenance plans, outages and turnarounds and ensure that Operations readiness plans are in place for identified opportunistic work. E.g. isolation packages etc.
Work with Process Specialists, Reliability, Maintenance and Projects to ensure work is coordinated to reduce production losses
Utilizing the HPC Equipment Criticality ranking process, provide key input and ensure accurate criticality ranking for existing and new equipment in the CMMS (Maximo)
Assist in the development of maintenance procedures and related training packages for operational systems

Education, Skills and Experience:
Third Class Power Engineering certificate, with preferably post-secondary education
A strong technical understanding of Petrochemical plant processes and equipment, maintenance practices, process safety, safety instrumented systems, chemical safety, and emergency response plans is desired
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Strong communication and technical writing abilities
Attention to detail and well-developed interpersonal skills are required
15 or more years of industry related experience in a petrochemicals facility.
Preference will be given to individuals who have been in a technical support or leadership role in an integrated petrochemical facility.
Maintenance experience with a journeyman ticket is viewed as an asset.
As this position is identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessments with satisfactory results.
