Operations Manager/Yard Supervisor
Davis Trading & Supply Ltd., a family-owned and operated scrap metal recycling company, committed to sustainability, established in 1909, is seeking an Operations Manager/Yard Supervisor to join our team. This role supports senior management over lead yard operations, ensuring all activities are aligned with operational goals and quality standards. To maintain, oversee and optimize our yard operations, ensuring efficient flow and management of materials and equipment. You will be responsible for implementing best practices in operational processes, enhancing productivity, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Must be certified to operate Forklifts and Skid Steers.
Quality Control & Documentation
· Review and reconcile receiving reports against customer packing lists to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
· Inspect incoming customer loads to verify material quality, quantity, and condition, documenting any issues with photographs and detailed reports.
· Prepare clear and accurate load summaries identifying discrepancies such as weight variances, grading issues, pricing differences, and other claim-related matters.
· Conduct material recovery audits as required.
Payments & Transaction Management
· Accurately record received weights and applicable pricing for dealer loads in our existing scrap system and provide information to the Commercial Team for review and confirmation.
· Process transactions and payments through the scrap program and provide completed payment documentation to the Accounting Team for processing.
· Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when handling weights, pricing, and payment information.
Customer Service & Support
· Provide prompt and professional pricing for materials and services, including customer pickup requests, by phone and email. Prepare and distribute scale tickets, receiving reports, and other documentation to customers following receipt of their loads.
· Work closely with yard personnel to ensure customer vehicles are unloaded safely, efficiently, and with minimal wait times.
· Build and maintain positive relationships with customers through professional, responsive, and solutions-oriented communication.
· Bring a positive, energetic, and team-oriented approach to daily interactions with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
Material Control & Sales Support
· Monitor and accurately track all material entering, moving through, and leaving the yard using the Material Inventory Tracker.
· Create sales contracts using customer purchase orders and our scrap program once material has been sold.
Yard & Material Handling
· Maintain organized material piles and assist with overall yard cleanliness and organization using available equipment.
· Photograph materials during the loading of overseas containers to ensure accurate documentation and shipment verification.
· Work collaboratively with the yard and commercial teams to maintain an efficient flow of material throughout the facility.
Previous experience in the scrap metal recycling industry is preferred and considered an asset.

Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
