Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Accountant to oversee our company’s accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll functions. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and managing payroll processing for our employees. This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting & Bookkeeping:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and other financial records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Monitor and track company expenditures to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Manage payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy in pay rates, hours worked, and deductions.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related filings
- Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for management review to support business decisions.
- Provide insights on cash flow, cost control, and profitability.
- Assist in the preparation of the company’s annual budget.
- Compliance & Tax Support:
- Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and accounting regulations.
- Ensure proper compliance with all financial and tax regulations.
- Work closely with external accountants or auditors during tax filing or audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in a small business or food service industry a plus.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
- Experience with payroll processing and payroll software.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with various teams.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
