Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Winnipeg is looking for a high performing Project Manager. The type of individual that will succeed will have a can-do, no-excuse and driven hands-on approach to leading multi-disciplinary teams. This role will be working closely with staff and contractors to lead the transformation of the plant into a true Factory of the Future. This is a highly visible role within the largest Magellan Aerospace operation in North America.

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • In the first weeks, develop the Factory of the Future (FOTF) Project Master Plan including identifying resources, budget and hold timelines. Lead the team (made up of management and associates) through focused brainstorming sessions or like activities to determine where improvements are most beneficial. Develop focused project plans, timelines and budget for all projects. Work closely with the General Manager, the Division Managers and Business Unit Leaders to build business cases that add value and show an aggressive ROI/IRR. Engage all stakeholders, emphasizing focus on tasks by driving completion of milestones and deliverables as well as holding stakeholders accountable through their direct management chain.

Position Requirements:
  • Experienced leading multi-million dollar, multi-year projects. Budgeting, Planning and Reporting with a strong emphasis on reporting as planned, actual and recovery actions. Highly Organized and Results-driven with a never give up approach. Data driven. Change agent who is not afraid to challenge legacy processes and the status quo. Visionary and Cutting Edge Technology-Savvy.
Specific Experience Required:
  • 10+ years hands-on, leading projects and process improvements. 10+ years working in a precision-manufacturing and highly regulated environment. 5+ years of capital budgeting with proven results of favourable IRR. 5+ years of experience mining and analyzing data and then presenting business cases to improve efficiency. Lean and CI with hands-on experience participating in Kaizen events (experience in leading events would be helpful).
Experience Desired/Preferred:
  • Several years in Aerospace product manufacturing. Experience liaising with and lobbying government or NGOs. Union experience. SAP or other ERP roll out experience. Lean Black Belt or equivalent experience with proven results. ISO and AS9100. Experience in a matrixed business structure.
  • BSc in Engineering (Process, Industrial, Mechanical) or equivalent. PMP designation (or Equivalent experience with PMBOK or Prince2). MBA in Operations or Project Management preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Lean Certified Black Belt preferred.
