Senior Data Architect
Job Type: Part-Time Contract – 0.5 FTE
Location: Remote within Canada
Pay Rate : $95.00/hr
Onsite Requirement: Approximately 15% in Edmonton, AB, as required
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Architect to support a large-scale data integration and Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) initiative. The project will consolidate multiple reporting data marts into an integrated data warehouse and supporting data marts and reporting views.
This is a 0.5 FTE part-time contract opportunity, primarily remote within Canada, with approximately 15% onsite work in Edmonton, Alberta, as required.
The successful candidate will provide senior-level expertise in data architecture, data warehousing, data modeling, ETL, data profiling, data governance, SQL, and Power BI.
Work Arrangement

- Candidates must perform all work from within Canada.
- Occasional attendance at meetings or project work sessions in Edmonton may be required with reasonable notice.
- Travel time and associated travel expenses to and from Edmonton are the responsibility of the resource.
Key Responsibilities
- Review existing data marts and perform detailed data profiling.
- Analyze data requirements and develop data design and mapping specifications.
- Identify and define Dimensions and Facts required for the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- Perform detailed profiling of source tables supporting Facts and Dimensions.
- Design, develop, and test ETL processes.
- Develop Power BI reports to support testing and data validation.
- Perform quality assurance testing of Dimensions, Facts, and data outputs.
- Update existing data models to support new Fact attributes.
- Stage and prepare required data for integration and reporting.
- Troubleshoot and address minor issues within existing data marts.
- Define and manage data architecture principles, standards, models, guidelines, and plans.
- Identify and document enterprise data requirements.
- Promote data quality, data reuse, data sharing, and reduction of data redundancy.
- Develop transition plans supporting the move from current-state to future-state data architecture.
- Provide data architecture guidance and consulting to project teams and stakeholders.
- Participate in architectural and design reviews.
- Ensure data solutions align with enterprise architecture and information management strategies.
- Provide recommendations, project feedback, and lessons learned.
Required Qualifications
- Senior-level experience in Data Architecture within an enterprise environment.
- Strong experience with Enterprise Data Warehousing, Data Modeling, ETL, and Data Integration.
- Hands-on experience with data profiling, data mapping, dimensional modeling, Facts, and Dimensions.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex relational data.
- Experience with Power BI for reporting, testing, or data validation.
- Experience developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, data standards, and enterprise data architecture.
- Experience analyzing existing data environments and developing future-state data architecture.
- Strong communication, documentation, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a primarily remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse or data integration projects.
- Experience consolidating multiple reporting data marts into an integrated architecture.
- Experience working in government or highly regulated environments.
- Experience with historical data migration and preservation.
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and information management strategies.
Pay: $80.00-$95.00 per hour

- This is a 0.5 FTE part-time contract role that is primarily remote, with approximately 15% onsite work in Edmonton, AB, as required. Are you able to commit to the part-time schedule and attend Edmonton onsite sessions when required?
