Shift: (Midnights) Sunday to Thursday, 10:00pm-6:30am
SUMMARY
The Midnight Operations Float position assists with and covers for dispatch, routing, check-in, OS&D, reefer checks and any other administration tasks required by operations department.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Have full knowledge of Erb Transport computer dispatch systems. Ensure moves are completed accurately and up to date throughout shift.
- Maintain sound geographical knowledge of the Britannia Road and Cardiff terminal delivery and pick up area especially when it is applied to dispatch and routing.
- Route straight truck and trailer runs from both Britannia Road and Cardiff locations.
- Recognize the many different appointment customers covered by Britannia Road and Cardiff Terminals and to be able to differentiate which terminal services each customer.
- Assist midnight dispatch by assigning pickups, coordinating freight between Britannia Road and Cardiff location.
- Assist all window positions including Check-In, Routing, and manifesting loads.
- Assist data entry team.
- Complete reefer checks and ensure correct documentation.
- Complete pro-bill scanning procedures, key in and photocopying as required.
- Coordinate with Operations Manager, yard, and dock personnel regularly.
- Assist in checking off each driver's manifest against the attached proof of deliveries.
- Ensure all bills are photocopied regarding shortages and damages.
- Ensure manifests are checked in on a nightly basis.
- Responsible to assist in the nightly keying in of bill of lading information into the computer. Ensure accuracy in billing terms and weight.
- Enter damages, shortages, and driver hours into computer from invoices and driver trip reports.
- Ensure all bills, signatures and monies are with each manifest.
- Communicate with management regarding any major customer, equipment and/or staff issues.
- Assist terminal personnel with any operational inquiries.
- All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Excellent planning and organizational abilities.
- Experience with MS Office Suite and AS400 required.
- Proven computer dispatch experience is required.
- Positive teamwork, flexibility and positive attitude is a must in this position.
- Experience with shipping documents would be an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Salary based on a 40-hour workweek.
- Monday to Friday, 22:00 – 06:30
