Job Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing production employees and supporting departments during assigned shifts and off shifts. This role drives operational efficiency and productivity across designated production lines while ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and quality requirements.
The Production Supervisor works a rotating day/afternoon shift (bi-weekly rotation) or a fixed night shift (Sunday to Thursday). This position also provides backup support to Production Managers, Sanitation Supervisors and the Assistant Production Manager as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and support production employees and related departments
- Drive productivity, efficiency, and output on assigned production lines
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards, including: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP requirements, Sanitation and allergen control programs, Occupational Health & Safety regulations
- Act as an emergency response and evacuation leader when required
- Perform line verifications following sanitation and cleaning processes
- Maintain, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Monitor employee performance; provide coaching, feedback, and corrective action as needed
- Mentor and support development of Lead Hands
- Assist with production line operations when required
- Prepare accurate daily shift reports, including issues, root causes, and corrective actions
- Support and backfill HACCP-related responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve production and quality issues
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes (ice cream, dairy, or similar environments preferred)
- Proven experience supervising employees in a production or manufacturing setting
- Solid understanding of food safety systems and quality assurance practices
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation
- First Aid certification is considered an asset
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- High attention to detail with strong documentation and record-keeping abilities
- Proficient in computer systems and production reporting tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong technical understanding of production equipment and processes
- Reliable attendance and dependability
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (with assistance as required)
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Good manual dexterity
- Average workweek of 44+ hours
- Overtime may be required based on production demands
- Fast-paced food manufacturing facility

- Requires strict adherence to safety, food safety, and quality standards

Compensation
At Chapman’s, compensation is guided by a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes and rewards individual contributions.
Salary / Wages
$65,000 to $78,000
In addition to wages, employees will be eligible for:
