Job Overview
The Construction Safety Association of Manitoba is seeking a dedicated Safety Advisor to join our team. Reporting to the COR Program Manager, the Safety Advisor will be expected to participate in the development and delivery of safety resources, tools, training and other related CSAM products and services to the construction industry.
Duties and responsibilities of the incumbent include:
· Coordinate and conduct Internal Safety Audits, Registered Auditor Verifications and Safety Program reviews of established company programs and report to CSAM Management Team with the final results.
· Provide assistance and give direction to companies with the implementation of their safety program including the Audit concept.
· Provide information and give direction to clients regarding safety and health concerns.
· Assist with the development of safety programs including the presentation of health and safety seminars and workshops throughout Manitoba.
· Assist safety program personnel by providing support both administratively and technically.
· Liaise with Workplace Safety and Health and Workers Compensation Board keeping abreast of the latest information and developments to policies and regulations to determine their implications for CSAM programs.
· Make multiple and effective recommendations to companies during the course of the audit, provide solid background information and a clear value to these recommendations as they pertain to each individual client.
· Handle phone inquiries using quick and precise decision-making skills.
· Stay up to date in the industry by taking relevant safety training, including but not limited to courses required by employees in the industry; specialized training on safety innovation; training in basic function of WCB and WSH; training related to current industry practices; and practical construction training.
Qualifications include:
Knowledge of the construction industry, WSH legislation, and safety management systems, with the ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing).
Post secondary training in courses related to Occupational Health & Safety is an asset and/or be willing to work toward, the National Construction Safety Officer designation and the national designation as Gold Seal Construction Safety Coordinator.
Other education beneficial to Safety Advisor includes:
· National Designation of CRSP – Canadian Registered Safety Professional
· Certificate completion of an Occupational Health and Safety program
· National Designation of Gold Seal Construction Safety Coordinator
· Certified Health and Safety Consultant
Experience in statistical analysis, management or specialized training in communication would be an asset.
Training in the basic functioning of WCB and WSH to ensure credibility with our clients.
Must have the minimum of a valid Class 5 vehicle driver’s license, have a reliable vehicle and be available to travel.

Working Conditions
· The Safety Advisor works in an office environment, but the business of the organization will take them to construction company locations and CSAM Sponsored events.
· The Safety Advisor works a standard work week, but additionally may be required to work evening and weekend hours to accommodate activities such as representing the organization at public events.
Respectful Workplace
Establishment of a cordial relationship with CSAM staff, WCA staff and other tenants of the office building will be expected.
The incumbent will mainly be in contact with construction industry firms. They will be expected to liaise with the Manitoba Workers Compensation Board and Workplace Safety & Health Division in a manner necessary to perform the role of Safety Advisor. Establishment of a cordial relationship with industries and safety personnel will be expected.

Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
