Responsibilities:
- Performing all assignments involving: painting, wallpapering, carpentry, drywall, hardware replacement/repair, furniture assembly, minor plumbing and electrical repairs
- Maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment (i.e. fans, motors, pumps, P-tac units) and hotel equipment (i.e. Bain Maries, ovens, mixers, vacuums)
- Performing regular pool and spa maintenance on equipment and systems by inspecting, testing, replacing parts, adjusting and chemical balancing and recording records
- Performing scheduled preventative maintenance work on equipment and systems by inspecting, testing, replacing parts, adjusting, lubricating, cleaning and recording results
- Performing preventative maintenance in Hotel Guest Rooms and Public Areas
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship
- Adherence to all building codes, standards and WCB policies
- Maintaining a current knowledge and complying with all facility policies and procedures
- Using all required forms or paperwork for proper record keeping
- Following up on all tasks or work orders assigned, to ensure that projects are completed in a prompt and prioritized sequence
- Rectifying any safety hazards or other maintenance items promptly. Reporting safety hazards or other problems to the Director of Engineering or Manager on Duty
- Maintaining logs, files and records on all equipment.
- Using initiative for departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Must have open availability to work weekdays, weekends, and public holidays from Monday to Sunday. In particular, availability to work 10:30am-6pm shifts from Wednesday to Sunday is a must. Availability for other shifts during weekday/weekend mornings, afternoons and evenings may be required according to business needs
- Only applicants with previous experience in an Engineering/Maintenance Department in a hotel or a large commercial building setting or who has a strong aptitude and or previous experience in carpentry, painting, drywall and or plumbing will be considered for the position
- Certificates and or relevant designations in the Engineering or Maintenance fields will be considered an asset
- Is a friendly, energetic person who takes initiative to find creative ways to respond to guest problems
- Must have a pool and spa maintenance certificate
- Previous electrical, mechanical and plumbing experience considered an asset
- Strong communication, time management and organizational skills are essential
- Ability to work with chemicals (WHMIS)
- The ability to lift heavy objects
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Understands that success lies in working together and enjoys being part of a team
