Position Summary
As the first point of contact for our guests, the Host / Hostess plays a crucial role in creating a positive first impression, providing exceptional service and creating an exceptional dining experience. In this role, you support reservations, greet guests, and ensure smooth seating arrangements, while also providing excellent customer service throughout their visit.
Role Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet guests; ensure a seamless flow through the restaurant.
- Make guests feel comfortable while waiting at the front.
- Interact with guests as they leave the restaurant, ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Check-in, store, secure, and retrieve outerwear and assorted personal belongings for guests.
- Take part in pre-service duties and applicable closing duties, including printing menus as well as updating and printing shift summary notes.
- Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and respond well to questions.
- Exhibit familiarity with menus.
- When needed, answer phone calls and give basic information on reservations, availability, restaurant hours, and services.
- Uphold service standards to ensure a memorable guest experience.
- Maintain and uphold our company's vision and values.
- Maintaining a safe, sanitary, and organized work environment.
- Any other tasks assigned by management.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- 2+ years related experience in a similar position within a fine dining, high volume environment.
- Knowledge of POS and reservation systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, bilingual a plus.
- Excellent phone etiquette and the ability to anticipate and meet guests' needs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude and welcoming feedback.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to handle various guest relations scenarios.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Professional demeanor, polished appearance with the ability to exceed guests' expectations.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong work ethic and customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work on a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with local health and safety standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- May be able to lift and carry up to 9kg at times.
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the work area and property.
- Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
- Climbing steps regularly.
- Prolonged periods of standing.
Compensation and Benefits
- The hourly pay rate for this position is $17.60 per hour plus tips.
