POSITION SUMMARY:
Supports the Patients Accounts function in the department of Financial Services, reporting to the Coordinator, Patients Accounts. The Preferred Accommodation Analyst is responsible for maximizing revenues as they relate to preferred accommodation at both the Charlton and CMHS sites. The analyst will provide analysis, variance reporting and projections for preferred accommodation revenues/expenses and will oversee and maintain the financial and statistical information associated with preferred accommodation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Community College diploma in Business Administration
  • 1 to 3 years previous experience
  • Ontario Hospital Association Fundamental Healthcare Accounting Certificate preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of CLHIA (Canadian Life & Health Insurance Act) guidelines
  • Strong accounting, finance and analytical skills required
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • A strong aptitude for analysis and interpretation is required
  • Previous experience in a financial/healthcare environment with strong working knowledge of HBO system, or similar A/R software program.
  • Proficient in the use of PC systems (Excel, Word)
  • Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse client population. Ability to manage productive relationships with staff members at all levels throughout organization.
  • Developed problem solving skills and conflict management.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to contribute and make recommendations to ensure continuous quality improvement initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for ensuring preferred accommodation revenues are maximized.
  • Involved with annual budget process by developing recommendations for the preferred accommodation revenue/expense budget.
  • Responsible for continual development and implementation of revenue generating initiatives, new processes, and enhancing the system to ensure budget targets are maximized. Train and work collaboratively with management/staff to ensure new processes are efficient, understood and adhered to on an organizational level.
  • Prepare financial and statistical analysis on monthly basis, reflecting monthly/year-to-date variances between actual/potential revenues. Reporting of revenues and tracking revenue patient days on a departmental basis, monitoring changes to quickly identify any operational issues.
  • Analyze insurance collection reports and aged trial balances to ensure accurate reporting and timely collection of aged accounts.
  • Monitor insurance/patient billing process, and work closely with staff to ensure accurate billings are completed for month end. Analyst will determine month-end accruals for posting.
  • Train registration management/staff to ensure accurate patient/insurance information is obtained and recorded accurately. Works closely with units to ensure patients are occupying appropriate accommodation and initiates transfers if necessary.
  • Acting as key resource to all staff and patients; provide analytical/consultation/support services to key personnel on preferred accommodation issues.
  • Resolve preferred accommodation discrepancies and conflicts between patients and/or insurance providers.
  • Meet with patient or family members to review, obtain and update all required registration/insurance information.
  • Conduct related surveys with healthcare partners within and outside of our LHIN. Initiate and implement rate increases and create related forms and necessary documentation for staff/patient use.
  • Preparation of financial and statistical ad-hoc reports by the Coordinator, Manager, Deputy CFO and/or CFO including the design, layout and content of report.
