Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Finance Manager, this position is responsible for the implementation of policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure the organization manages its financial resources efficiently and in accordance with Canadian ASPE. Additionally, the incumbent will fulfill the monthly account reconciliation requirements with precision in a timely manner.
The role requires strong communication, effective cross-functional coordination, efficient organizational abilities, and strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable working across multiple departments, thinking creatively with hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviews specific general ledger accounts for proper coding and compliance with approved budgets, posting correcting entries as needed, ensuring clear and concise explanations of variances to budget and prior year.
- Prepares detailed balance sheet account reconciliations for non-subledger accounts, ensuring complete information and support for all transactions. Reviews and rationalizes aged account transactions that have not cleared.
- Prepares and maintains detailed prepaid schedules, ensuring all annual obligations are captured with appropriate level of detail and amortized accordingly.
- Prepares credit card reconciliation monthly, collecting all receipts and confirming the details related to each charge and posts account activity into Accounts Payable within specified timelines.
- Maintains the fixed asset subledger, ensuring accuracy and validity of all assets; monitors monthly depreciation; reviews Assets in Progress account to ensure assets are placed in service appropriately with the correct useful life.
- Maintains reconciliation for all intercompany transactions and balances throughout the month.
- Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close,
- Responsible for conforming to accounting practices pursuant to annual audit requirements and as well as staying current with changes to accounting practices.
- Active participation in the interim and annual audit process, providing all necessary documentation to ensure financial statement accuracy.
- Other ad hoc duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting within a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of other Microsoft Office 365 programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and within strict timelines.
- Proficiency in use of accounting software for all aspects of accounting (GL, A/P, A/R and Financial Statement generation).
- Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, competing priorities/tight deadlines requiring general ledger closure after EOD on period ends.
- High attention to detail and experience working with highly confidential information.
- Solid judgement, natural curiosity and problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication, organization and time management skills.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000 a year. This position is also eligible for an annual incentive program and pension contribution program.
