Opportunity Description:
We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our Flexible Packaging Division.This individual can be located in either Oakdale MN or Vancouver, British Columbia.

In this role, you will write, edit, illustrate, publish, and maintain the content of service and operator guides for a wide range of new and existing products. Product types include flexographic printing plates, software for preparing and submitting plate layouts to the imager, system workstations, and hardware systems for plate imaging and plate processing.

Key Responsibilities to include:
Support the hardware systems with service manuals and procedures that cover topics such as safety, operation, replacement of field replaceable units, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Also incorporate functional illustrations, photographs, and parts and schematics diagrams.
Support the software products with user guides, release notes, installation and upgrade guides, and troubleshooting articles. Publish this content as wiki-based help and as PDF files.
Support the plate products with optimization procedures and guidelines, customer and engineering bulletins, and visual quick reference guides.
In addition to developing text-based content to support the products, also develop line art and other types of visual content to support complex technical information for service engineers and simplified illustrations for users.
Support distribution of content to the applicable audiences with web-based knowledgebase articles and file downloads, including documents, test files, software installers, and so on. Also publish brief news items such as release announcements and other critical updates.
To ensure continuity between the end users and the commercialization teams, work closely with the software development, service engineering, and platemaking technical applications teams across multiple sites. Ability to work with remotely located subject matter experts is essential.

Qualifications:Required Skills/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related disciplines
5+ years of technical writing experience in a professional environment
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Extremely strong ability to develop clear and concise technical content in English, with consistent application of writing conventions that support ease of translation and comprehension by an audience whose first language is not English
Knowledgeable and skilled in single-sourcing and content management systems, with ability to plan content development and delivery strategies
Full proficiency with a wiki authoring and publishing platform
Proficient with a DITA authoring tool set, preferably the Astoria CMS with XMetaL editor
Skilled in the use of basic text-authoring tools, including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Skilled in the design and development of visual information, using tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Visio
Proficient in developing and maintaining documentation standards, including style guides, templates, and style sheets for consistency across various authoring environments
Ability to support the technical aspects of the authoring and publishing systems, including troubleshooting
Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints, reference hardware components, and execute technical (electronic) illustrations
Ability to multitask and bring multiple complex projects to completion on time
Experienced and skilled at gathering information, interviewing subject matter experts, and organizing content structure
Experienced in preparing documents for translation and processing the translated files
Bonus/Preferred Skills
Knowledge of platemaking and print production workflows, preferably in a packaging environment
Ability to migrate content from the DITA environment to a Wiki platform
Experience using and administering content using Atlassian Confluence and add-ins
Advanced skills with markup language, including wiki, HTML, and XML
Ability to manipulate and enhance digital photographs using photo editing software
