Position Summary
The Career Coach – Career Services assists, coaches and provides information for individuals of all demographics looking for work in Calgary. They collect, organize and analyze information about either clients or learners through multiple sources in order to advise on employment and training. Within a collaborative model, they will provide group-based, career and employment coaching and case management services to either clients or learners who require assistance in their job search and career goals.
The Career Coach will:
- Provide one-on-one career coaching.
- Collect and analyze information to provide up-to-date and accurate job search and labour market information.
- Facilitate employment focused workshops.
- Conduct learner case management.
Connect with stakeholders in the community to assist either clients or learners looking for employment

Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:
Career Coaching
- Provides one-on-one coaching for job seekers.
- Assists with resume writing, job search strategies, and interview skills.
- Conducts assessments to determine service needs.
- Develops specific, measurable, and attainable action plans for career goals.
- Communicates effectively across cultures.
- Helps clients understand their education, work experience, and skills.
- Uses assessment tools to identify needs and abilities.
- Assists in identifying employment requirements and developing career plans.
- Helps overcome career barriers and develop job retention strategies.
- Organizes networking events.
- Stays updated on industry trends and promotes career services.
- Provides team coverage and performs related duties as needed.
Workshop Facilitation
- Schedules and delivers career-related workshops.
- Develops workshop materials.
- Facilitates online, in-person, and hybrid workshops.
- Assists in marketing workshops.
Administration
- Tracks key metrics and ensures targets are met.
- Maintains accurate client files and data.
- Writes reports and performs administrative tasks.
- Collaborates with team members to promote services.
Professional Engagement
- Builds relationships with community organizations and employers.
- Organizes information sessions and guest speakers.
- Assists employers with job openings and skill shortages.
- Represents BVC at events.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Provides team coverage and performs additional duties as required by the Manager, Career Services.
Required qualifications:
- Minimum post-secondary Diploma in Career Development, Social Science, Business, Education or Human Services
- 1 year of related experience (career coaching, experience in providing services to a diverse clients or learners ).
- Police Information Check including a vulnerable sector may be required, depending on program
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire
