Claims Examiner – Personal Injury
CaseMark Financial is a rapidly growing Litigation Finance & Advisory Firm – we invest in lawsuits and provide creative financial solutions where banks cannot assist. We specialize in providing financing solutions to individual plaintiffs, law firms and lawyers involved in civil litigation with an emphasis on plaintiff personal injury matters. We are seeking to add an experienced risk professional to assist in evaluating legal claims that will guide our investment decisions. Candidates are required to have experience in civil litigation and professional experience as a law clerk, This position requires an individual who would like a dynamic role and can apply their skills and experience in an entrepreneurial environment. The position is located in downtown Toronto with potential for some remote work arrangements.

Job Responsibilities:
- Review loan applications and supporting documentation arising from Bodily Injury and Accident Benefit Claims
- Assess loan requests and provide written reports identifying key risk areas, liability issues and quantum of damages
- Follow up and maintain effective communication throughout the due diligence process with lawyers and clients
- Maintain and develop strong, positive relationships with lawyers and industry professionals
- Respond to client and lawyer requests and concerns in a timely manner, while analyzing client needs and recommending the appropriate product solution
- Conduct legal research and monitor trends in the personal injury field
- Participate in company marketing initiatives as required
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years experience in either a personal injury law firm, insurance company or litigation funding company
- Post secondary education (Law Clerk, Paralegal, CIP)
- Experience managing a file from intake to resolution
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a busy environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with lawyers and clients
- Willingness to work in a boutique entrepreneurial environment
