Production Supervisor
Location: Toronto, ON
Term: Full time, Permanent
Pay Rate: $75 - 93 K per year - depending on experience
Scope of Position:
- We are searching for a new Day Shift Production Supervisor that will report to the Plant Manager
- If required on occasion, the incumbent would need to cover the afternoon shift to cover supervisors’ vacation time
- Looking for a Production Supervisor with experience in metal fabrication, must have proven success leading skilled trades teams
- The Production Supervisor is accountable for supervising, coordinating, providing leadership to and reviewing the work of assigned personnel
- This position is responsible for developing and implementing work methods, as well as applying departmental procedures in accordance with company policies and standards
JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for planning the day-to-day departmental operations, as well as executing departmental schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity
- Accountable for developing and implementing work methods, as well as authorizing overtime, and controlling costs
- This incumbent is accountable for assigning, as well as checking work of designated staff
- Responsible for promoting a culture of continuous improvement by facilitating kaizen initiatives to enhance organizational capabilities
- Accountable for leveraging the expertise of personnel to proactively resolve issues and steadily advance towards the company's objectives
- Responsible for overseeing employees in performance of work and provides guidance in the resolution of routine problems
- The Production Supervisor is accountable for working with subordinates to ensure that all quality standards are achieved as per ISO certification, as well as control cost of production. To achieve this, the incumbent ensures all processes are efficient and in accordance with company standards
- Responsible for communicating and reinforcing the adherence to safety programs. This incumbent is accountable for working in accordance with the law to promote a safe work environment for all employees. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring that suitable training, and the appropriate tools and equipment are available to employees enabling them to perform their work in a safe and efficient manner
- Accountable for promoting housekeeping and cleanliness in order to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- The Production Supervisor is committed to fostering a respectful workplace for all subordinates. This role involves upholding progressive discipline policy to address behaviors that negatively impact employees or the firm. Additionally, is tasked with recognizing teams and individuals for exceptional performance aligned with the company's community values, while delivering consistent feedback through performance coaching, disciplinary actions, and formal reviews
- Accountable for evaluating and recommending changes in methods and procedures in the assigned area of responsibility
- Responsible for acting as a liaison with other departments, or organizations
- Accountable for monitoring and managing departmental activities, as well as preparing reports concerning such activities
- This position is responsible for estimating personnel needs, schedules, and assigning work to meet completion dates in accordance with schedules
- Accountable for familiarizing employees with established organizational policies, procedures and regulations, as well as assure adherence to departmental procedures
- Responsible for interviewing and recommending candidates for employment
- Accountable for conducting performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned personnel
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College Diploma or University Degree or comparable experience
- 5-10 years previous experience in a metal fabrication environment a must
- Good working knowledge of CNC, Laser, Brake Press, Punch Press and Welding processes
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and solid leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent understanding of health and safety legislation and applicable standards
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles as well as leading cross-functional Kaizen events
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
- Understanding of product knowledge in the furniture industry
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Must be able to work overtime and accommodate a different schedule when required
- Computer literate in both Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
