RuberuTutor of Haldimand is a growing tutoring centre serving families in Caledonia and the surrounding areas. Our mission is to serve a recognized underserved area with high quality educational support at fair and affordable pricing. We offer two streams of learning:
1) A structured worksheet-based program aligned with the Ontario curriculum (similar to the Kumon model)
2) Individualized and small-group tutoring for all subjects and all grade levels, including high school
Our environment is calm, predictable, and supportive. Students come to learn and tutors come to guide them.
3) Early readers for JK/SK, and Grades 1-6 Based on the UFLI Method
Position Overview:
We’re looking for positive, dependable tutors to join our team in Caledonia, with a strong current need for High School Math and Physics tutors.
Our highest-priority applicants are individuals who are confident teaching high-school mathematics and/or physics. Experience teaching additional high-school sciences is also an asset.
We are also looking for an Elementary Reading Tutor with UFLI or structured literacy experience to provide targeted reading instruction.
You do not need to teach every subject or grade level. Tutors are matched with students based on their education, subject expertise, experience, and comfort level.
We are currently especially interested in:
- High School Math Tutors
- High School Physics Tutors
- High School Science Tutors
- UFLI / Structured Literacy Reading Tutors
- Elementary Math and English Tutors
Ideal candidates include OCT-certified teachers, teacher candidates, university students or graduates with strong knowledge in the subject area, and experienced tutors with demonstrated subject expertise.
Previous teaching or tutoring experience is strongly preferred. We are looking for individuals who genuinely enjoy teaching, can explain concepts clearly, and are comfortable supporting students in a small-group learning environment.
Responsibilities:
*Support students (Grades JK–12) in either structured worksheets, individualized tutoring or small group tutoring sessions.
*Provide clear, simple instruction and corrections
*Maintain a positive, patient atmosphere
*Communicate with the academic coordinator and directors regarding student progress
Schedule
Evenings, Monday through Saturday
4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
minimum 2 shifts per week depending on your availability
Work in person at Grace United Church in Caledonia
Depending on overflow we might have an additional local location.
Qualifications
*OCT-certified teacher, EA, tutor with experience, retired educator, or equivalent. Classroom Experience/Group Teaching is preferred.
*Familiarity with the Ontario curriculum
*Comfortable supporting small groups (3-to-1) and individualized 1-to-1 students
*Patient, clear communicator
*Having your own reliable transportation is preferred.
*Must be able to work in-person in Caledonia so it is advised that you carefully consider your ability to commute to us.
Compensation
$19–$22/hour based on experience and skill
