MacLean Engineering is looking for a Product Manager – Digital Productsto join our growing Product Management team. This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing team, focused on designing and manufacturing heavy duty mobile mining vehicles for our customers world-wide.
About the position
The purpose of this role is to define the digital products that we offer or will be offering to our customers. The candidate will be working with others within product management to define this, and with key customers to determine where the value is, both currently and into the future. The job title will depend on the seniority of the candidate.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinating the telemetry offering and other digital products between product and engineering teams:
- Regularly meet with the Engineering Lead on the telemetry team, to discuss technical aspects, feasibility, and project timelines.
- Engage in meetings with product managers from other lines to understand their telemetry requirements and identify opportunities for cross-functional collaboration.
- Interface with customers to gather feedback, understand their telemetry needs, and incorporate their insights into product development.
- Interface with customers, our Systems team and commercial to establish and maintain data connections.
Product Descriptions and Road mapping:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive product descriptions for our machine telemetry offerings, including defining key features, benefits, and target markets.
- Work closely with the engineering team to create a long-term roadmap for telemetry and other digital products, prioritizing features and enhancements based on customer needs and market trends.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new opportunities and stay ahead of industry advancements.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Define and communicate the overall vision and strategy for the machine telemetry products, aligning with the company's mission and goals.
- Develop and manage the product roadmap, ensuring timely delivery of features and updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support, to ensure successful product launches and ongoing product success.
Performance Monitoring and Analysis:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of our machine telemetry products.
- Analyze product performance data, customer feedback, and market trends to make data-driven decisions for product improvements.
Other duties and responsibilities:
- Provide product demonstrations to potential customers.
- Stay current on industry developments, competitive offerings and issues affecting sales and customers. Attend industry trade shows and conferences as required.
- Develop content for sales proposals & develop sales training material for sales personnel.
- Participate actively in complex, multi-year mining equipment sales.
- Travel from time to time, both domestic and internationally, is a requirement of this position. Visit key customers in conjunction with the sales team to provide in-depth product knowledge.

About You: The successful candidate(s) must be willing to learn, open-minded and flexible, organized, team oriented, disciplined, and must have a positive attitude. Ideally you will have had experience working within a similar metal fabrication, heavy equipment assembly environment, and you possess the majority or all of the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary Diploma or Degree, for example in Engineering or Business
- A background in software and/or data for a minimum of 5 years
- Prior experience with D365 or DevOps is an asset
- Required prior exposure to underground mining equipment / environment
- High level of computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office
- High level of professionalism, honesty and integrity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, need to be able to positively represent MacLean when talking to customers
- Excellent listening skills
- Bilingualism is an asset (French and/or Spanish are desirable)
