Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Medical Office Assistant to join the Vancouver Home Support team as a Timekeeper/Office Clerk. Apply today to join our team!
As a Timekeeper/Office Clerk you will:
Maintain timekeeping records and provide office support for the Home Support Services.
Receive and process timekeeping data, apply time coding, enter data, and deal with employee inquiries.
Maintain client databases and compile statistics.
Word process a variety of documents, transcribe documents, edit and proofread documents, check staff travel expense claims and sessional dates/times on physician’s sessional billings, and maintain client charts such as pulling charts and filing documents.
Distribute client laboratory reports to staff or physicians, process the team’s mail, and attend and participate in meetings, act as a receptionist as required.
Perform a variety of clerical duties, maintain levels of general office supplies and monitor equipment, and participate in on going team planning and quality improvement activities.
Education & Experience
Grade 12 supplemented with an approved Medical Office Assistant program and at least one (1) year’s recent related experience, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
Knowledge & Abilities
Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of and proficiency in relevant software.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to type 50 wpm.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to compose business correspondence.
Ability to work effectively with others.
Ability to be sensitive, tactful and diplomatic with clients and the public.
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Ability to perform relevant calculations.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Basic computer literacy to operate computerized patient care information system and word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail software.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
