What you’ll do
- Provide personalized assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall health, ensuring timely reporting of any changes to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to cater to dietary needs and preferences.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks and ensuring hygiene standards are met.
- Assist with medication administration according to care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Engage patients in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function and emotional well-being, including memory care for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
- Provide direct support for individuals with developmental disabilities or autism, fostering an inclusive atmosphere that encourages growth and independence.
- Collaborate with family members and healthcare teams to develop and implement effective care plans tailored to each individual’s needs.
Basic qualifications
- Proven experience in caregiving or related fields such as home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR to ensure readiness in emergency situations.
- Strong observational skills for monitoring patient conditions and recognizing changes that require attention.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting patients with mobility needs using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working in group homes or nursing facilities, particularly with individuals requiring specialized support.
- Familiarity with patient care documentation practices and the ability to maintain accurate records of services provided.
- Background in social work or nursing is advantageous for understanding complex patient needs.
- Must have valid driver's license
- Willing to work/relocate in Vancouver, Canada
