Responsibilities include but are not exclusive to:
- medication administration
- coordinate, develop and implement residents' plans of care
- complete assignments in a reasonable time frame
- serve as a resource person for other nursing staff
- ensure maximum safety of staff and residents
- perform all nursing skills as listed in the Ontario College of Nurses Standards
- co-ordinate all medical orders in relation to individual resident plan
- evaluate the effectiveness of resident plans of care
- liaison with other health care team members
- train/orientate new registered nursing staff, as well as non-registered nursing staff
- provide work direction, instruction & guidance to non-registered nursing staff
- participate in a multi-disciplinary approach to care/collaborate with all members of health care team
- cope effectively in emergencies
- demonstrate leadership skills and utilize effective problem solving skills
- work safely and follow all workplace policies and procedures, to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers and residents.
Desired work experience:
- Registered nursing experience working in a long term care home
- Registered nursing experience working in a gerontology-related field
- Registered nursing experience working in an acute care facility or in community nursing
Education:
- Current certificate of competence & in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current CPR certificate
