Position Summary:
As a Driver, you will be directly responsible for operations of a Dodge 3500 1-ton Truck with a 26’ goose neck trailer or a ¾ ton Chevrolet HD with a 24’ hitch trailer to make deliveries to customers and pickups at suppliers within the Winnipeg and surrounding area, in an efficient and timely manner.
Shift: 8:00am to 4:30pm, contract from now until end of February 2025
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a company vehicle in a professional & safe manner and follows all transportation laws;
- Perform duties in keeping with the traffic laws and company policies & procedures;
- Complete thorough and effective pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the truck;
- Strap and secure product on the bed of the truck & trailer and remove straps from loads;
- Manage delivery and pick-ups routes in the most efficient way;
- Drive to loading and unloading sites at Comco, customers, or supplier locations;
- Maintain records/logs as prescribed by the Ministry of Transportation and company policy;
- Adhere to all customers, suppliers, and Comco’s safety policies and procedures;
- Operate company issued electronic and/or communication equipment professionally and respectfully;
- Liaise with Shipping department to advise of any delays or questions of deliveries or pick-ups;
- Use of forklift to load and unload product from trailer;
- Perform all tasks safely, professionally, and as directed by management;
- Assist in other duties, such as picking orders or in Fab Shop, as required.

- Our company vehicles are equipped with event-triggered recording devices. The recording devices are not constantly monitored, but video footage will be reviewed when an event-triggered incident occurs. The footage is used to investigate traffic incidents and to be used to conclusively determine fault, and it will also be used to improve drivers’ performance and skills.
Requirements
- Work Experience: 3 years of commercial driving in making deliveries and securing of loads;
- Class 3 License: Class 3 with excellent driving skills and a clean driving record (abstract to be provided);
- Forklift Certificate: 1 years’ experience, preferred, but willing to train if no experience;
- Excellent communication skills to deal with customers and suppliers;
- Able to read, write, and understand English;
- Able to read orders, bill of ladings, and understand product quantities;
- Able to wear the required PPE, provided by the company (Hard hat, steel toed safety boots, safety glasses, etc.).
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor work;
- Long periods of driving and strapping/unstrapping of loads at various customers during the day'
- Standing, walking, push or pull objects, climbing stairs/ladders, and ability to lift/carry heavy loads of up to and including 50lbs.
